El Comandante is Sony's most ambitious production to date for Latin America. The series was conceived three years ago by Moisés Naím, who is also a producer of the show and a newcomer to the world of television. "It is not a documentary nor a biography in the strict sense of the word. It is a work of fiction based on Chavez's life", Naím says.
